Nekohama City is located in the central part of the city of Nekohama-Hasumi Metropolitan Area. It is an ordinance-designated city, known as one of the leading port and commercial and industrial cities, and has skyscrapers. The central functions of Nekohama City are concentrated in the Masana and Nishi districts, with four urban centres: the Maisana district, the largest downtown area; the Marunouchi district, the administrative centre; the Nekohama Station area, the gateway to the city; and the Bay City 21 district, the new urban centre.
